Before you switch it on

Stand the fridge upright for at least 6 hours after unboxing before you turn it on.
  • Keep at least 20cm of clear space around the vents.
  • Keep it flat. Don't tilt it more than 5° for long periods or more than 45° at any time, and never lay it on its side.
  • Keep it dry, and don't leave it baking in a hot car in direct sun.
  • Don't store medicines, samples, or anything flammable inside.
  • If you see smoke, unusual heat or a fault, switch it off and unplug it straight away.

What's in the box

ROLi fridge, AC power adapter, DC car power cord and the user manual. If you bought a fridge and battery bundle, the ROLi Battery (DB01) is in the box too.

Powering your fridge

At home (240V)

Plug the AC adapter straight into a power point.

In the car (12V or 24V)

Plug the DC cord into your car's 12V or 24V socket. No dual battery needed. Set the battery protection level to H when running off the car so the fridge switches off before your car battery runs too low to start.

On the ROLi Battery

The Mini and Roam each take one ROLi Battery. Slot it in, hold the battery power switch for about 2 seconds until the fridge beeps, then hold the fridge power button for about 2 seconds to turn it on.

On solar

Install the battery in the fridge first. Then plug a regulated solar panel (max 30V, 100–120W recommended, DC5521 plug) into the fridge's solar port. Never connect a solar panel straight to the battery.

Using the controls

  1. Power: press the power button to turn the display on or off. It shows the current internal temperature.
  2. Temperature: press the setting button, then use +/− to adjust. A short press moves 1°C, and holding it moves about 2°C per second. Once the screen stops blinking, it's set. The range is −20°C to +10°C.
  3. MAX or ECO mode: press the setting button twice, use +/− to choose MAX (fast cooling) or ECO (energy saving), then wait 3–5 seconds.
  4. Battery protection: press the setting button three times, choose H, M or L with +/−, then wait 3–5 seconds. The factory default is H.
  5. °C or °F: hold + and − together for 3–5 seconds.
  6. Memory: the fridge remembers your last temperature when you turn it back on.

Values are a guide and can vary slightly.

Reversing the lid

The lid opens from the right by default, and you can flip it to open from the left. Lift it straight off, never at an angle or with force. The full manual has step-by-step diagrams.

ROLi Battery (DB01)

First time using your battery? Activate it before the fridge can charge it. Charge it once with a USB-C PD charger (45–60W). After that, the fridge charges it normally.

Charging

MethodTimeNotes
In the fridge (AC or DC)About 6–8 hoursTurn the battery on so it charges. On car power, it needs above 12.9V to fully charge, otherwise it stops at around 80%.
USB-C PD chargerAbout 4 hoursUse a 60W USB-C PD3.0 charger. Never go over 60W.
Solar, through the fridgeDepends on sunBattery installed in the fridge first. Panel output 12.6–30V, 100–120W recommended.

Lights

  • Green: charging.
  • Blue: fully charged, discharging, or not charging.
  • Charge level: give the power switch a short press and the level shows for about 3 seconds.

Looking after the battery

  • Once it's full, take it out if you're running the fridge on car or 240V power. Constantly cycling between charging and discharging wears it faster.
  • Don't store it flat for long periods, because that shortens its life.
  • It works between 0°C and 45°C.
  • Stop using it straight away if it's swollen, leaking or unusually hot.
  • The USB port next to the power switch charges your phone.

Troubleshooting

Won't turn on: try both the AC adapter and the DC car cord to work out which one's the problem. If neither works, get in touch and we'll send a free replacement.

Not cooling well: open the lid less often, and don't load lots of food at once, especially warm food.

Hissing, humming or vibrating: normal. That's the refrigerant and compressor doing their job.

Water droplets on the outside: normal. Give it more space for airflow.

Loud noise at startup: a screw may have worked loose in transit. Contact us and we'll sort it.

Display temperature doesn't match my thermometer: the sensor reads the sides and base of the fridge, not the air inside, so the numbers will differ a little. The display is the better guide.

Top of the fridge is slower to cool: cold air sinks, so the top is naturally warmer. Keep drinks and snacks up there.

Water bottles won't freeze: set it to around −20°C and give it time. A portable fridge cools more gradually than the one at home.

Fridge won't charge the battery: make sure the battery is activated (see above) and switched on. Hold its power button for 3 seconds.

Storing food

  • Wrap or bag food before it goes in.
  • Let the fridge cool down before adding ice cream.
  • Don't freeze glass bottles or fragile containers.
  • Don't overload it in one go, because the temperature will rise.

Cleaning and storage

Turn it off and disconnect the battery, AC adapter and DC cord first. Drain any water through the drain plug, then wipe it down with a dry or lightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Don't hose it out or use harsh chemicals. To defrost, empty it, switch it off and let the frost melt on its own. Before storing it, dry it out and leave the lid open for a few hours.

Warranty

Your ROLi fridge and ROLi Battery come with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase. If your battery develops a fault in that time, don't send it back. Get in touch and we'll send a replacement.

To make a claim, email info@rolioutdoors.com.au with your name, date of purchase, model, a description of the issue, and a photo or video of the fault.

The warranty doesn't cover misuse, drops, modifications, normal wear and tear, or non-ROLi chargers and accessories.
